Kiln Opening
Pets need pretties too. Wouldn’t you want to eat boring kibble from a lovely bowl?
Custom colors and personalized bowls for four legged loved ones. Oh there are personalized mugs for two legged also.
living vicariously
Collectively, human beings have an obligation to share experiences. Teaching, entertaining, provoking. It is why we read, watch, listen, learn; experiencing what we ourselves have not. Alternately, is that not why we create?
Tracy B. is set for a fabulous trip to Italy, then sailing on to Croatia. How awesome is that? To encourage her to [...]
love for Art Camp
Just in time for a self prescribed Valentine’s treat:
Artunraveled will have the class descriptions up on January 20th, with sign ups in February. Artunraveled is my favorite art camp. The offered classes are always tantalizing and the venue is my favorite.
There is a spectacular list of instructors lined up for this year. I haven’t attended [...]
daily buffet of reminders
Expressly Yours (the day-job) has been working on the samples for the new everyday line we’re calling Flourish. Sparked by positive reactions to the affirming embellished collages, we are hoping to bring a gentle reminder to each meal. And a fresh outlook for the new year.
Thank you for the feedback, the first samples are being [...]
you cant break in half
When there is great texture on these buttons, it means there are deep cuts into the top of the clay. It looks pretty, but if the button’s depth is too shallow, it means there are stress points that can snap it in half. I’m a wee bit clumsy; I break things.
Bubba wasn’t kidding: [...]
Joyful creations
Newly made puppy buttons, getting their first firing at about 1987 degrees Fahrenheit. They will take 8.5 hours to fire, and one full day after that to cool down. Then they will be glazed in white and black glazes, and be shiny and beautiful, awaiting exciting applications on joyful creations.
In the same kiln load [...]
Little Joys Big Joys
Thank you Dooley and Lynn for reminding me how to slow down and breathe.
Being on the rodent wheel I’ve forgotten to be thankful, until today. But the guru and the fiber goddess at Fibra Artysta gave me a pleasant reminder.
I ask for an odd indulgence: do any other humans out there appreciate the paws of [...]
Before and after kiln view July 2008
Glaze load going in kiln at the studio a couple days ago. We like to get a before and after when ever we can remember. After about 30 hours the kiln is cool enough to open.
Loving new blue glaze on the hand. Click here for full size photo of hands.
affirmation mosaic
When I make affirmation pieces, I make them with myself in mind, though they are universal. Never give up is a phase I need reminding of often, and I need to remember that I do believe in myself. I just finished this piece last night. Curious about the process from beginning to end? Click on [...]
Off to to the Quilt Festival in Chicago
The girls are off to the show in Chicago so I’ll be guest posting for them while they are gone. The platter above is one of five they have taken with them to the Quilt show along with the embellishment cards, buttons and kits. See more of our ceramics at EYstudio.com
They will be in the [...]
Go to your studio and play
Another departure from the button cards, since they are getting packed up by the minute to go to Chicago. Your studio can be a table, kitchen counter, closet, garage, bathtub, tree house, lawn, basement, bed top. Wherever you create, treat yourself to one small creation, or 15 minutes devoted to a larger project. It is [...]
