that’s how the light gets in

I just got new glazes! Doing the happy dance. I don’t get to see the results for 2 days, but opening the kiln to see the new colors is the best anticipation. Will post the kiln opening, probably Wednesday.
Springtime is the new-beginnings-time. I challenge us all to try new things. Don’t like orange? make a small orange quilt, or journal page, or dare to dye papers or fabric, or knit, with orange, or pink, or whatever color you are adverse to.
A few years back I took a color class for 13 months. Every month we were pushed into colors and combinations we would never invest in on our own. Nearly every student discovered a love for previously hated colors. And it is not just color. I’ve rediscovered the joy of challenges. Even if I don’t enter my finished project, monthly I’m trying a theme I would never have entertained before. I lost this joy of discovery when one such project was rejected. But as I look around my house and studio, I’m happy with the oddball arts and crafts I’m surrounded by. Do yourself a HUGE favor, break apart your comfort zone; there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in… love (and Leonard Cohen)
