Everyone needs a what if list. Non creative types need this list, but if you are a creative being you must have a WHAT IF list. Start with a small notebook that will be carried at all times. When you are a work, stuck in traffic, lying awake at night, eating meals, and those thoughts pop into your head, write them down. When the luxury of studio time comes, explore those ideas.
What if:
I ran Tyvek through the printer? I wrote my short story from the conclusion to the beginning? I used pomegranate seeds instead of strawberries in that recipe? I mixed synthetic yarn with wool and washed it in hot water? I took a chance and entered that contest?
Written down, those sparks of brilliance and disasters cannot slip into the ether of lost opportunities. They can be the lyrics of your muse. love (and notebooks) michele (I’ll let you know about the Tyvek thing…)

I’m in a HUGE what-if? stage right now on pretty much all fronts of my life. My job is going through a major transition, I have to decide if a change in living arrangements is needed and I’ve been questioning my art again. I think what-if? stages are important to keep life interesting but it sure is stressful!
Everything makes life stressful right now, escalating costs, extreme weather, politics. So let’s turn it around and do good-what-ifs: the economy gets better, the Nov. election makes history, somebody invents a car that runs on solar and wind power! Hang in there Lynn, you’re my voice of reason. myc
