Thing and Thang twins with enchanted souls

Enchanted Souls

Introducing Thing and Thang. Twins that recently joined our cult of mixed media play. I was going to tie down their hair, but decided that their adopted parent should decide, but I had lots of fun playing beauty parlor with them (much more engaging than playing beauty parlor with Joey, my cat).

Chocolate mouthed plushy

chocolate mouthed plushy

Sometimes we need to depend on a visual to make us smile and remember the silly side of life. Sock creatures do this for me. This is my latest and we’ve taken to calling her chocitome. She is not allowed to have arms as it would lead to chocolate overdose. It takes longer to unwrap the chocolates by mouth only. So sad, but she’s happy, and so am I.

Time to get out the pretty clothes

snappy dresser

Admit it, we all feel better when we are dressed in our finest. Now that it is spring, treat yourself to a new hairdo, and a prettily colored outfit. It was a difficult winter, so celebrate spring, and let all who look upon your glory bask in your glow.

Dreaming of too much to eat?

Dream Big

Who wants the current economic stick? Let’s all dream of a great big carrot instead. I mean, if you’re going to dream, dream big, right? I’m seeing a trend with myself lately, so much dreaming, I better get to work on getting ready for the Chicago International Quilt festival instead.

How do you dream?

dolphin

Dreams are like children, they need to be released to be able to mature. But how do we dream? We dream asleep of course, and when bored with mundane tasks, but also with intent when we dare to create. In fact I believe we could substitute “dream” with “what if…”. What if I used green thread instead of beige? What if I used lemon-aid instead of water in that recipe? What if we released our dreams and they swam away into a life of their own? How cool would that be?

Series 18

March 21 finished cards from recent kiln opening

Here are a small sampling of finished collage cards of the glazed buttons seen in the kiln opening post of March 17. I finally ventured into black glaze and love the shiny little nuggets of handmade goodness. I also forced myself to do a bunch of neutrals and loved the fat happy elephant in this series. Click on the above image to see him in the full album.

Sleep Goddess

sleep goddess post update

We’ve had much fun with the goddesses, that I’ve added to the album and will continue to do so throughout the year, so check back if you too love the muse, alter egos, pagans, and stream of conscious embodiments. I’m not the only nutball that dreams of sleep am I? - myc

Halloween mixed media cards

scaredy cats, skulls, jack-o-lanterns

It is never too early for the best holiday of the year. When I saw how cute and frightening our scaredy cats, skulls, and Jack-O-Lantern embellishments were, I decided we’ve got to make lots more. So this is just a beginning, if you like them, return to see more added to this album, as they are finished. Some are handpainted in acrylics, and some are underglazed, glazed, then kiln fired a second time, and some are specialty glazed. Click on the image to enter the album.

March 17 kiln openings

glaze kiln opening

Always excited waiting for the kiln to cool enough for opening when we have finished a big batch of the prettys. So this is the preview of the buttons before they are selected for the mixed media cards. Return in a couple of days to see how these ceramic embellishments get singled out, or paired up for the completed collages.
