ATC trades at Make It University

expressly yours artist trading cards

Quilting Arts and Cloth Paper Scissors are hosting an incredible ATC (artist trading cards) trade event. If you plan on attending the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach, CA, I strongly encourage you to create some Artistic Trading Cards with an entertainment theme. For every card you bring in, you will take the same number home. How exciting - imagine bringing 30 cards and leaving with 30 individual little works of art. Check out their link here for more info

Our contributions above are based on a love for music. We’ve added small light weight heart buttons. They are pretty cute, if you don’t mind me saying.

If you play along, stop by our booth and show off. Booth #1656, on a corner of the Make It University quadrant. Hoping to you.

Not left behind

front row seating

Insuring they will not be left at the studio, to work with all the yummy new texture slabs and sheets that just arrived before our departure - (so sad am I), Bro, left, and Sis, right, took up the steering wheel position. They promise to navigate so they will not be in the way. Road trip is under way… Long Beach International Quilt Festival, here we come.

An inaugural event for my lovely little children - the big Road Trip, and for IQF in Long Beach CA.

Nancy’s sea breezes

finished art quilt

In this art quilt, Nancy Smith incorporated a finished button collage card into thisNancy\'s button quilt joyous mixed media beauty. The image on the left is a closeup showcasing much of the mixed media aspects, including the original EYembellishment collage, textured copper scrap, scrim, and coiled wire. On the right, is the entire piece. Click on photo to enlarge. For me, this piece feels like a satisfying immersion at the sea. A lovely day cruise with cool breezes, quiet calm, and the company of those we love.

Nancy has graciously loaned us this quilt to be seen in person at the Long Beach IQF, later this month.

projects a plenty

some examples

The beginnings of the Make It University proposal. As mentioned awhile ago, we hope to be presenting a take home project for the Long Beach, 2008, inaugural International Quilt Festival. It is our desire that the 25 attendees of our class complete a mixed mosaic plaque that complements their personality, or acts as their muse.

As the plaques evolve their personalities, I will be posting updated pictures. If you have any suggestions, or design requests, please do not hesitate to comment. Thank you, michele

Take a flying…

decision made

Leap! Kickin’ it to California. We decided out of the blue to commit to vending at IQF in Long Beach, July, 2008. Since Chicago’s IQF, we’ve been sluggish and morose, (apologies to anyone reading my posts, it might have been obvious how blah I’ve been) now we’re hyped and creating anew. WhahHoo!

More upbeat news: Bubba’s working on purchase availability right though this site. And an awesome alternative to the photo albums that I am crazy about. Hope to have them up this week. (evil ploy, hee hee)

I’ve mentioned Lynn in a past post and just added her to my new Favorite Links on side bar. She is witty and entertaining and a blog of fresh air. Her blog has introduced me to Skulladay which I love, and she admits to a tote bag collection; I have yet to own up to my bag adiction. Lynn has inspired me to attempt more finished projects with our buttons, because hers are beautiful and have a calming effect on me. But trying to flesh out a thought process from my head is anything but calming to my nerves and maturity level.
